Casino of the Sun - Latest News

Casino of the Sun (Tucson, AZ), plans to continue offering their poker chips, at face value (no redemption) until further notice. They have not formulated a plan for the excess chips when sales fall off, however they will continue to only sell them. They also satisfy mail-in requests (I do not know the specifics).

Since my first contact with them (where I asked about tournament chips and they said that they still had them), they have decided to bundle into sets, one of each denomination, and sell each set for $5. Sales are not expected to begin until after the New Year.

The following was provided regarding quantities:

.25 chip - $100 worth, or 400 chips.
.50 chip - $200 worth, or 400 chips.
$1 chip - Unknown
$2 chip - Unknown
$5 chip - Unkown
$25 chip - Unknown
$100 chip - $10,000 worth, or 100 chips.

Total value of chips (face value) - $330,000.00

They have exhausted the supply of .25 and .50 chips, which may have gone to a single buyer. They were sold immediately, and the cashiers do not recall small quantities being bought. (I'm not sure of the tell-tale signs of hoarding, but this could be one of them.)

If I learn more (about the Sun), I will advise. At this time, please do not request my acquisition of the tournament sets, as they have not gone on-sale, I will be gone for two weeks (Vegas, Florida, Caribbean, New Orleans, and return to Tucson), and I've spent a lot of time on-line handling Sun poker chip requests. I need to get packed! <VBG>

BTW - Before the Sun was the Casino of the Sun, they were the Arizona Club and only offered BINGO.
