If you want a good partial solution to the gas shortage think about this. Why not install motion detectors at all stop lights to prevent you from sitting at a red light for a minute while no traffic is coming from either direction? Just imagine how many times a day this happens and you will see the huge amount of oil that could be saved. The actual sensor for a motion detector is probably under $1 each.
