OK, Thanks for all the responses. I guess then if the kickers, or at least one players kicker, were higher than the ranking of other board cards then that card would come into play but when the kickers fall below the top 5, the board plays??? Maybe that is why there is a source of confusion.

Board = A Q 10 7 2

If I understand right that would make the winner

A-8 over the other player with A-7. The 8 plays because it is among high 5 but The 7 comes into play rather than the 6 because it is one of the top 5 for that player?
