He stole items from Howdy Herz. He was convicted of theft in criminal court.
In my opinion, what Larry did was inexcusable, and he paid the price for his actions. As to his being banned for life from the club, I'd think that such a decision would/should rest on the shoulders of the BOD and the victims of the crimes consulting as a group. If the Herz family would veto any membership reinstatement, that veto should carry more weight than Larry's having paid his dues according to the courts.
That said, I believe the Herz family and Larry are now on amicable terms, so a reconsideration of Larry's membership eligibility might be in order. His knowledge of this hobby, particularly pertaining to California chips has been and will continue to be a valuable resource to our hobby.
...its a tough call, but I'd leave it up to Howdy and family. Lost trust is a difficult thing to correct.
