Doug, I believe seller is correct on this. The first Colo. Belle operated 1980 to 1984, and was not owned by Circus Circus. The second (current) Colo. Belle, with the familiar riverboat facade was owned/built by Circus Circus Enterprises, Inc. and opened in 1987. The Edgewater was first opened in 1981, so it co-existed with the first Colo. Belle for a few years. Edgewater also owned by Circus Circus.

I can't verify the exact placement of the first Colo. Belle casino, but Circus Circus owns all the land where Colo. Belle and Edgewater are now. Both have expanded over the years.

FYI, while The Chip Rack doesn't show the distinction between the 2 Colo. Belle's, you will see the dates broken out in the Herz "Nevada Checks" book, and also see the first Colo Belle listed (1980-84) in the Fuller notebook.
