Pioneer? They made a special coin for the River Run. Priced at $21.50, I was very surprised to see it being sold from the main cage!
It was on-display in a display case by the gift shop and I do not know if the gift shop was also selling them.
But when I went to the cage for the River Run chips, they asked if I wanted a silver coin for $21.50. I asked to see it and they showed me a rack of them! It was not marked in anyway shape or form as a"gaming token" or with a $21.50 monetary value, or any value at all. I should have asked if the $21.50 included tax.
The last time I saw something being sold at a main cage, I was at the Nevada Palace. This was several years ago (maybe 4) and I wanted to get some chips (I can't recall if it was fractionals, or their birthday $1 chips), but they wanted more than face value... Yes, I was at the cage and they wanted more than face value. I said no, and left.
In both cases, I imagine it is/was contrary to gaming regs, but I could be wrong.
