I didn't say it never happened, just that the danger has been exaggerated, Archie. A few specific chip types do bleed. Environmental conditions can accelerate it. I have not seen the situation in my several thousand chip collection over about 8-10 years of storage in Cowan brand pages. To me, the convenience is worth the extremely small risk of color bleed. Those who disagree have a (less convenient) alternative.
I also don't generally take out USPS postal insurance as the odds of losing something in the mail don't justify the cost. Each gambler has to judge his own risk tolerance.
