In the post below, Mel says the silver objects that say "$5 gaming chip" on them from Artichoke Joe's are essentially pretty medallions. I don't dispute this, since Mel knows much more than I ever will about our hobby. I'm curious as to what makes an LE $5 chip and a medallion like this different. Both are worth $5 at the cage. The club calls both of them "chips." In some cases both are given away to High Rollers. (Lucky Chances just did this with their 1st anniversary LE) Is it just that a chip can't be made of metal, even a valuable one like silver or gold?
