Buried chips

Perhaps the earliest of the exhumed chips were the Sahara coin center chips. Buried in Tahoe and dug up years later when the building was being expanded. Included were chips from Las Vegas and Taho (but not Reno, to my knowledge). My first 'big find' as a collector was a whole shoebox of Sahara chip in a small shop in northern California. I ended up either giving them away or selling them for 50c each. Most were $5 red and white chips, with a few of the dollar brown and whites. I understand there were several full 55 gallon drums full of that were recovered. Many of these ended up used in home poker games.
