That is cool, literally! My CPU temp runs right below 100F as indicated by software.
I have read up on the liquid cooling in "Maximum PC" but I have been kind of leary of it due to possible leaks, plus I'm not doing any OCing so I didn't think I needed it. I may have to give it a whirl on my next rig!
What you got inside your box???
The particular computer pictured here has a Athlon XP 2000 Thoroughbred on a ASUS A7V8X-X board with 256 MB PC2700 DDR. I put the WD 80gig HD with the 8meg buffer, a Samsung CDRW w/ 8 meg buffer and a Samsung DVD/CD Player. I wanted to see how cheaply I could build it and it came in at around $400.
MY computer, which I built last summer is running a P4 2.4g 800 Mhz FSB on a Abit IS-7E mainboard (Intel 865PE chipset, the one Intel made the big fuss about), with 512 meg PC3200 dual channel DDR, with the same drives as the above box. I was attempting to go "state of the art" except for the CPU in which I went with the chip in the "sweet spot" (ie. a lot cheaper than a 3.2Ghz but still newer technology).
Speaking of quiet, I have heard that the new Dells use a HUGE honking heat sink that doesn't even have a CPU fan in an effort to run quieter. Be interesting to see how that works out long term.
Cheers!
Bill
