A database (which we are in right now), gives you a relational database. You can bring in other databases. You can create reports in many fashsions. You can use nicely creative forms for entering your data. I have many databases I use on a daily bases and I can take any information from any of them and relate to each other if I need the data and create reports from them. MSAcess goes much deeper then that for larger systems, but if Excel does what you need then use it. I use to have this discussion at work and people found excel to be easier to learn and this is problably true. I just love building databases and they work well with the web. Its the data entry that takes all the time.
