You're asking us to salute Oscar Goodman. Why? As a non-resident of Las Vegas, I never heard of him and for that matter, care less. I know the previous mayor was a female (whose name I also don't know, or should I say forgot.)

But for those other than Las Vegas residents (or possibly people related to the gambling industry) I don't see why he deserves any special accolades. Is he some sort of humanitarian, philanthropist, educator, scientist or just a politician?

These questions should not be interpeted to be demeaning in any way. I'm just wondering what the big deal is.

If I had my choice, I would think Jesse Ventura would have been a better selection. At least he is known throughout the country.
