Very interesting article about the Northern Nevada Gaming Summit held in Reno. That is if you're interested in Reno anymore. I am! Some observations about competition for CA. Indian casinos and local vs. resort casinos. Here's an illuminating factoid from the piece: price tag 2001 when downtown's Flamingo Hilton was sold and became Golden Phoenix was $6.75 million. Rail City (uh...not a resort!) in Sparks is being acquired for $38 million!!! Read further and find as many head-in-the-sand Reno honchos as you can, you know, those guys that think 6-5 blackjacks (Harrah's, Silver Lagacy, etc.) are gonna save the store.
