I think that what Gene is saying is that it doesn't matter if it's a "real" error or "fake" error. If you can just pop the inlays out and make your own, what possible difference could it make if the "error" is a real factory mistake or if it was done in the aftermarket. It's the same chip, the same "error", and, in my opinion, it's not a collectible. I personally wouldn't pay more than 5 bucks for it, and I find it incredible that it's been bid up to $680... and even more incredible that the reserve hasn't been met.

I'd also bet that because of the apparent demand for this, you'll be seeing a flood of these "error" chips before you know it.
