I've experimented with a couple of real cheap ones that are still sold in the shops around Reno.
IMHO it can't be done without damaging the chip. The Lucite resin is a heavy liquid when mixed then turns solid and creates ALOT of heat when it cures. It will actually become part of the chip I have seen chips that have actually warped or the colors run after they have been put into the lucite.
