I flew to Reno Sunday morning for a little decompression, to bet on the big game and do a little other sundry gambling.
I took the Panthers and the points, watched the game while playing $3/$6 hold'em at the Circus Circus poker room. I won about $100 playing poker and the game was close. Life was good!
Monday I called Richard Fellman to see if we might be able to get together. He told me to call him back in a couple hours after he finished running a few errands. He also told me Skip was in town, staying at the Eldorado. I walked over to the Eldorado to see if I could find Skip, but didn't see him in the casino. I walked back to the Circus Circus and noticed that the progressive jackpot for a royal flush on the 25 cent video poker machines at one of the bars was approaching $1500 and I decided to take a shot at it. I lost $40 in one machine, then decided to try the machine next to it. $20 in, and I hit a heart royal flush after about 20 minutes of play. It paid $1520 plus the casino added 10% for hitting the jackpot with full coins in! WooHoo!!!
I went up to my room and called Richard (it was a little after 2:00), no answer, sorry I missed you this time.
I went back down to the casino with my new riches and bought in at a roulette table for $500, coloring up with $5 chips and proceeded to play using my strategy that involves betting a minimum of $120 per spin. I did pretty good at the wheel too, hit straight-up numbers three or four times. After losing three spins in a row, I cashed out, still almost $400 ahead.
I almost had too much fun in Reno, and am looking forward to my next visit to the Biggest Little City in the World!
