But my point goes back to the famous marketing logic that "any advertising is good advetising. Which of course is usually followed by: "As long as they spell your name right"
Do you think the target market of the Hard Rock is shocked? Or would you assume they are thinking: "Thats like totally way cool, dude!" The Hard rock targets the younger, hipper crowd. I would have to assume (because I'm neither young nor hip) that they would be just eating it up. I would also assume from my many marketing classes, that the constant repeated exposure (pun intended) would bring the HR into the limelight again and again. These advertising angles are doing exactly what they're intended to do. lets take some basic thought, without attaching values to them.
~Sex Sells
~Shock value sells
~Repeated newpaper and tv news exposure sells.
~People talking about it....sells!
We dont have to condone it. Buyt we do have to understand, that as an advertising ploy...it's a home run.
Again to answer your question, I definately think its a bit over the top. Only because i wouldnt want my kids seeing the billboards. Its adult in theme, and shouldnt be viewed by those with tender eyes and innocent minds.
