to mean that the chip is no longer their currently issued house chip. When they need to order a new rack, they no longer order this chip. I recognize that many people reserve the word for use only in regards to chips that have been de-commissioned or are no longer redeemable for one reason or another. I personally feel that this definition ignores a whole category of chips - those that are still redeemable at a casino but are no longer being issued. I'd love to see someone come up with a distinctive term for this category that is commonly adopted by the hobby as a whole. How about "uncurrent"? I think it'd end years of fruitless debate over whether a chip is "obsolete" or not.
Until such time, that Circus Circus chip (and any other such chip) will always be "obsolete" to me.
