This is a note I wrote to Jane Voller. I am just going to copy it and put it up here. We are devastated but want all to know we are holding up even with alot of unanswered questions. We are gathering our strength from the support we have recieved in our area and from folks in the chipping community. IT MEANS SO MUCH, THANK YOU.
Haley is still alive but the situation is not good. She has had cranial bleeding and a broken collarbone. Bones mend, but brains may not. Lots of turmoil around here. It now appears that felony child abuse charges may be lodged against my daughters husband.
My daughter, Shelby, is standing up for her husband and is in denial that he could have done something like that. I suppose that is natural, but the reality is that he is the number one suspect at this time. I have advised her as to what I would be doing and she has done just the opposite. I am worried that because of her actions she may end up losing her other two children. I told her she needs to get her husband out of the house and away from the other children. She hasn't done this. I have an excellent Lawyer and he has even tried reasoning with her and she has rebuked him. I have offered to pay legal expenses for her and she feels she needs no legal counsel at this time and which is very wrong. There are things that need to be done to protect her and the other 2 kids, if in fact, her husband, is the guilty party.
I have no respect for anyone that could do something like that to a child. It is just inconcievable to me that these things happen., but they do and when it is close to home it hurts and hurts bad.
Too make matters worse, Lynn, my wife, went thru it when she was married to her first husband. They ended up divorcing over it and he served time in the Nebraska Pen. She has just been stressed out to the max over this. They had adopted a child and she left him to baby sit while she was at work. Her husband was such a laid back kind of guy that you would thought he didn't have a mean thought in his head. She went thru the same denial process, but she did distance their son from him when she wasn't around. It finally became apparent that he was the guilty one and he pled no contest and served only 18 months in the pen.
Wyoming has one of the strongest Family Violence Protective Acts in the country. Shelby had earlier had her husband charged for kicking her around. At that point she was going to divorce him. Then she found out she was pregnant with Haley. They reconciled and here we are today. It just wears us down but we are hanging in there. We have so much support from our friends and the post I made on the Chipboard(and I am not sure why I even did it, just by myself at the moment and stressed to the max). I just thought that maybe a bunch of people saying a little prayer might help.
I am going to post this same note I sent to you on the board so folks know where we are at. I WANT TO THANK EVERYONE FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS FOR THE TONS OF EMAIL AND SUPPORT WE HAVE RECIEVED. IT MEANS MORE THAN YOU CAN IMAGINE. YOU ARE ONE FANTASTIC BUNCH OF PEOPLE AND I AM HONORED TO HAVE MADE YOUR ACQUAINTANCE. Please KEEP PRAYING, it may help more than you can imagine.
Again, my thanks, I will keep you posted.
I added a picture of the Three Stooges. Trying to do something I like to do to keep my mind away from situation for a bit. You know I like posting stuff and promoting gaming collectibles. The saddness and heatache are devastating but a little humor can be pretty good medicine.
The picture was taken at The State Line Country Club in 1947.
Again our heartfelt THANKS,
Mark & Lynn Englebretson
