Some more copied & pasted portions from my e-mail
Since all of this began, I've received a barrage of e-mail pertaing to the issue.
Mostly supportive and I thought a few critical. Now that I go back and read them I don't really find any to be critical.
I thought I'd copy and paste portions of some messages so you can see what I'm referring to.
I'll omit the author's names but I assure you some are Heavey Hitters and have held key positions in the club both past and present.
Here goes;
Cool chip! Can you tell me when it was issued? I don't see a deomination. Was is some sort of special issue?
No, I'm just a new collector asking a simple question before I WAS to bid on it -
Got chips today & as usual they're beautiful !!
I want to ask you if the gold centers of the silver colored 'Silver Smith' you made for me can be polished out? + I may want one more gold one & one more silver one.
I also have a question about the orange color of the
$25 'Crystal Bay'Bay'?
As I mentioned before I have a $100 brown & a $5 burnt orange
that are drilled that I may want patched. Call me to discuss &
I'll probably come up to Vegas to bring the chips !!
I tried to call you, but can
never reach you !!!
Do you have any further history on this particular chip?
Dave, thanks for the notice. Is this the one you showed me at the convention?
It's beautiful. I'll bid on your chip tomorrow near closing time. Your friend, XXXX
Things like this seem to get out of control. People are always very protective of their hobbies. As you know opinions are like xxxholes, we all have one. And most stink.
I think people on the board are good people, just as I believe you are also a fine person. We let our passions get in the way off how we view new ideas. If they were honest with themselves. they would rather have chips designed by you than the casinos.
I would also like to have a few of your chips made for me in the future, but in fairness to the hobby I would require them to be marked as your product.
David, I'm still laughing. See you in a couple weeks,
Hi David, I took a new job and I have to admit I'm a little out of the
loop, but what the heck is this thread about? I'm coming out for The
Super Bowl and hope to see you there. Regards, XXXXX
Remember between me and you. These people are ruthless.
The thought that some government or organization should control what you do with your own personal property is a "Gestapo" mentality.
What you're dealing with is some degree of illiteracy. I didn't think
"C" "A" "F" "E" in any way resembles the word casino. Tell those who are still in doubt to look it up in their Funk & Wagnells.
Dave,
You dont know me and I dont know those guys that are assailing you, but I'd like to say this. I am in construction and feel I have a great skill with my hands when it comes to woodworking or spackling. If you have a skill with which I heard about, THEN XXXX THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!What do they do? Sit on there fat asses, smoke cigars and judge people? The most rewarding thing in my life is when I finish something difficult, look at it, and say, Damn I'm good! Make sure you do that tonight. Have a drink of your choice, look at the message board, hold up the drink in one hand, the middle finger with the other and say you know what!
Dave
I personally am extremely interested in seeing your work. Please let me know how exactly you work a chip. I don't see anything wrong with working on messed up chips, I just dont get it. Anyway I felt the need to give you a little thumbs up to you cause it helped me when people sent me them. Good luck to you!
XXXXXXX
Most chip collectors are well educated and fairly affluent. They don't need any babysitters to tell them what to do with their private possessions.
Dave, I don't have any problems with your work, maybe a little jealousy, like some of the others on the BB. It's just that I have an axe to grind with one Mr. XXXX who screwed me pretty good. For him to say that you should xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
was completly pure tripe. That thread went from him saying you were a junk dealer to the majority lauding your work. I wouldn't worry about him. That being said, I will wait for your response on the chip
Hi David,
I think we met once at a Palace Station chip show maybe??? I’m not writing to beat on you. I have no problem with your auction description. I think it’s pretty clear. I’m just curious as to what your day job or hobby is that gives you the tools and skills to do such a nice job on that Hard Rock. I can appreciate the craftsmanship. It’s beautiful.
Dave
First of all I'd like to thank you for your service to our country!. I use every opportunity to thank the people that have given themselves up to serve our country. Ethics like that should be contagious, but what is contagious is usually the girly high school mentality as I call it. They are like wet little 16 year old girls talking about any person that just left they're conversation. You got it right...that is there lives. It's only a gaming token not the original holy grail!
Where has common sense gone in this country! Idiots like these "chippers" are of the same mentality that is trying to control our government. These jerks are probably the guys
So what's it going to cost me to have some of those Hard Rock Hotel brass
cores made up? Or even Harrah's... What if I supply the brass? I Like those
marbalized ones and yes, they are for me, not for resale and NO I don¹t want
no stinkin' "W" on them. Thanks.
I have no problem with them, they look cool! They are what they are...
Pieces of work.
Interesting! You sure did a nice job on the Hard Rock. It’s beautiful.
Best wishes,XXXXX
Thank you XXXXX
I have some more marblized brass cores that are equally as nice, but I'm not going to list them for a while. I want to show em off at the San Remo. Will I see you there?
Dave
Yes I will. Are you going to have a table? I’d like to see the others.
Bryan
My response
Some people say not to post on thechipboard. They compare it to standing between a dog and the fire hydrant. I'm glad I did. These guys put the "F" "U" back in fun.
I attended a leadership seminar in the military. The PHD Psychologist conducting the seminar said that people who stand around looking for reasons to critisize others are very insecure with their inner selves. (didn't use the term "low self esteem" in those days)
Like the kid at school who was always running to the teacher saying "Hey. guess what Johnny did?" He wasn't trying to raise his worth in the eyes of the teacher based on his own accomplishments. He was trying to do it by pointing out fault in others.
When there was an inspection in the military, some would take a lot of pride and make their shoes shine better than anyone else's. Others who didn't have that pride would look for someone to stand next to with shoes worse than theirs.
Does any of this sound familiar?
