I sincerely believe that most who object to chip repair, do so not because they are "champions of the hobby" but over concerns for the impact it might have on the investments they have in their personal collections.
I talk to the lady frequently who has placed a bid on the Hard Rock chip. She has seen the chip in person and is fully aware of what it is (a beautiful chip). She has purchased from me in the past. She called to say she would be in class when the auction ends and therefore has placed a bid above the minimum in hopes that it will not get "sniped".
