Hi Jonathan, I'm not trying to be negative here, or harp on your auction in anyway. But personally I would have broken the collection up into lots of 3 and 4 chips apiece, and sold them that way. Or maybe break up the collection into Fractionals, $1, $5...etc.
I just started collecting California chips and really havn't seen large collections of them sell well. Well, actually, I havn't seen any large California collections sell recently at all, as none have been offered.
Anyway, it's just MHO, but I'd think you'd better recoup your losses by selling in smaller lots. Smaller lots will traditionally get more bids, whereas large lots tend to only attract the big spenders. Like I said, I'm not harping on you. I just think you would have done better selling in smaller lots.
