As you may know, Lincoln Fitzgerald had an association with the Detroit Purple Gang through his Chesterfield Club. In the forties a change of locale seemed prudent for Mr. Fitzgerald so he went to Reno. One night, arriving home from the Nevada Club, he was rudely shotgunned by some badmen. The company one keeps, you know. For a number of years after that he resided in the secure confines of his downtown Reno club.
