I picked up this old German Rechenpfennig. It is not a coin. They were used as counting pieces on an abacus type layout as position/ value markers. I also understand they were used as chips in card games of the time. Many of these have been found with very old decks of playing cards. Are there any gaming historians out there that can verify this?
