Cindy - the inserts do appear thin and as they wear, the underlying chips shows through. It looks like paint.

These are cheaper, lighter, less durable chips IMO. I never checked their weight. Just like the Belaggio chips - great place, cheap chips. The old TI chips were the same composition - light and thin on the inserts.
