I've used both and here is what makes me vote for cable beyond the fact that it is indeed much faster than DSL.

If your cable has an outage there is a whole group of people working furiously to restore the television so Aunt Kate doesn't have to miss The Bachelor...

...when there is a DSL outage it's you trying to impart how important your internet connection is to a guy making $9.00 at Verizon who could care less. I've been there and it sucks.
