I am just starting with this thread so I don't know if this has been mentioned. I have noticed that there have been a few chips that have been a hair larger than the standard 39mm. Problem then is that, when I want my chip holders pretty standard, or when using die cut holders, some chips just don't fit. Another example is the Cassidy Frame that I got to display my chips in. Almost all my chips fit in the diecut board. However a couple, My Paris Jeton is an example. I have it in the frame pressed against the glass and the board. The hole is a hair too small for it but holds it in place against the glass. This is because, with that chip, it is thicker in the middle and narrower at the end. Conveniently the edge where it exceeds standard size is thin enough not to make it impossible to put the frame together.
Anyways, when it comes to the AirTites that I use, Rather than keeping a supply of direct fit 39mm holders I prefer to go with the larger ones with the foam rings. This way, when I do get a chip that is oversized, in this manner, I find that the foam will compress enough to make most if not all my chips fit inside these holders. That is why I was dissappointed when one of my regular suppliers stopped stocking the CHIP holders with the foam rings in favor of direct fit (39mm) AirTites.
