Similar story.... While staying at the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City about 2 years ago, my wife lost a small diamond ring I had bought her while we were in Palm Beach. Granted it had monetary value but more sentimental value than anything else. Anyway.....
She searched high and low, went to lost and found, retraced her steps etc.

About 2 months later while at the Taj again [ We usually stay in the same room] she noticed something shiny in the corner.
The ring had fallen onto the carpet and was in a little crevice between the carpeting and the wall.

Not only was it amazing to find it 2 months later but also the fact that it didn't get sucked up by a vacuum cleaner
