I think one of the forces at work here, Archie, is that a chip within the Club auction will have an awareness prior to the start of the convention (this coming year to an even higher degree, I might add!!!) and can be seen in catalog form on in person at the auction table during the convention. On the flip side, to find a particular chip on the bourse floor can be, as I’m sure you well know, a very daunting experience to say the least.
These forces that combine to push the Club Auction sales prices to a higher level than those on the bourse floor make it even more impressive that eBay sales can surpass even those higher levels. And all of this, in turn, speaks to those who continue to insist that the internet auction arena always represents the “wholesale” side of the chip market. Those who are of the impression that eBay sales are consistently lower than “retail” sales for all chips are not in touch with the realities of the marketplace.
