Thanks Pete. I have found that the casino supply houses sell a light weight plastic and not the old ivory or bone composite. May seem silly to prefer ivory, but it just has a better feel to it, a better sound to it, and I seem to get a better spin from it.

Picky picky picky I guess. But yes, I have found that the older ball is more likely to be made of ivory or such.
