I've had a few email exchanges with Vic over the ridiculous, blatant shipping and handling overcharges on the nine chips he sent me ($1.85 per chip, no multiple-lot discounts, sent all nine in a single envelope with $1.29 postage on it.)
I've gone through eBay Square Trade, and he refused arbitration. Based on his emails, I honestly concluded that there's something wrong in his reasoning process - he can't, or won't, understand why his behavior is unethical. His basic attitude was "Hey, you got stuck, you agreed to the charges, you paid, you got your chips, deal's over, get over it." It very much reminded me of the scene in National Lampoon's Animal House, where Flounder's car was wrecked on the road trip, and Otter consoles him with "Hey, you f*ck*d up. You trusted us."
This is nothing more than my honest opinion and should not be taken as an assertion of fact, but I just figure that Vic is quite possibly what is commonly referred to as a "degenerate gambler," an out-of-luck fellow with a love of casinos and a love of gambling who somehow lost his shirt and is trying to claw his way back by taking advantage of others on a very small scale. The $15 he took me for is not a big deal, but his stubborn refusal to make good on his unethical deals is very confusing. He also has an annoying habit of ending his posts here with a smiley face, like an unscrupulous used-car salesman: "We screw the other guy, and pass the savings on to you."
Best,
WMD
