You are missing Eisenstadt's point Archie. If the crap isn't made in the first place, there is no market for it. I find it troubling that there is a market for the fakes, even amongst knowledgable collectors, but I also understand it. If it is made, someone will buy it. Its a "collecting" mentality thing. It was made, so some must have it, and those that don't are somehow not as smart as those that do (or their collection has another hole in it), and it can escalate the values of these items. Fake chips suck!
