Ok kids, Im sure youre all dying to hear how I handled the Palms Playboiy chip set that were shipped to the incorrect address.

I sent out a replacement set at my own expense. Here's why:

1) The buyer gave me the correct address included in his Ebay checkout email. It was I that decided for some crazy reason to send it to the address on the check. Why you ask? because I wasnt thinking. Maybe I was too damned lazy to pull up the checkout email, maybe I just assumed the address on the check was correct. This was my fault. Sure he sent a check with the wrong address, but would it have been different if his cousin had paid for the chips? Should he suffer for the fact that I sent it to the address on the check rather then the address listed on the checkout to which it clearly states the shipping address?

2) Point one taken, then point two would logically dictate that if I as a seller would replace chips that didnt arrive to the buyer should I have actually sent them to the correct address, then I should replace them this time as well.

Here is my bottom line...

I could have forced the buyer to pay for insurance, but I didnt. I could have paid for the insurance myself, but I didnt. The buyer paid me for the chips, thus, he kept up his side of the transaction. I however, failed to successfully get the chips to him. So...I replaced the chips at no charge to the buyer. I didnt have to, but i felt compelled to do so because I strongly believe in being an honorable person when it comes to selling and trading.

What the buyer does in this situation is up to him. When I had an ebay auction not arrive once to me, I paid the seller half of the auction price. I felt it wasnt the seller's fault, and the least I could do is split it with him. But thats just me. But you know, i dont sell chips on ebay to get rich. I'd make a higher hourly wage working at Walmart. I do it because i have fun with chips. I enjoy the ebay stuff (except snipping).

Behavior modification: I've now decided that all of my ebay auctions will have a new rule: all of my auctions ending with a $25.00 or higher selling price will be required to have the item insured.

Why am I going through all of the bother to write all this up on the chipboard? So that people can learn. It's always good to learn from your mistakes. However, it's far better to learn from other people's mistakes. Hopefully, some of the readers will learn from my mistake. I know I have.
