I wrote earlier about seeing concerts at the Shaeffer Music Festival in Central Park. It later became the Dr. Pepper Music Festival as sponsers changed. Harry Chapin owned the festival. He was clearly the best performer in front of the NY crowd. I don't think I ever missed one of his concerts. Harry grew up on Long Island in town called Huntington. He had a raspy voice, but was an incredible story teller. I don't think anyone who ever heard him sing "30,000 lbs. of Bananas" would ever forget that song. Wow. Harry was a terrible driver and died tragically in car accident. Too young, too many stories went untold.
