The golf course is nice and not expensive. Cart, green fees and clubs were less than some places charge for golf alone.

When you are downtown walking the half block from Stockmen's to Commercial, look on the other corner. It's the Silver Dollar Saloon.

Driving Tip... if there is a pedestrian in the crosswalk, STOP. I've been told that they enforce the right of way in Elko. I set one foot off the curb and traffic stopped in both lanes. Now that's a shocker.

None of the casinos sell chips from the cage. I hounded them for eight years and still get the very polite, smiling "NO" we can't sell from the cage it's against the gaming regulations. (don't argue, they own the place and hold all the chips) Exception was trip where the manager from Gold Country met me at 3 AM and had the vault manager sell me some chips. He's been gone since 1996.

449er bar is the watering hole for oldtimers, the real cowboys and miners. That's if it's still open. It was up for sale. Very rustic enviroment and video poker in the bar. Free drink for a $20 buy in.
