That raises a question that maybe one of our more experienced eBayers might know. I have a recallection that this has happened to me recently. I recall loosing an auction and getting a letter, I don't know though if it came from eBay, telling me that the high bidder didn't come through and offering me, as the second bidder, the item.

Is it possible that the seller, or a shill accidentally outbid me rather than Running up my bid? Does eBay look out for such incidents and keep any track of them?

Something just seems funny here.
