This is in response to Dons Lueders message down below but since I wrote a little story here I wanted to make sure more see it.
7th issue are camel left chips. (as well as the 5th). 8th are Genie Face. In answer to why the one is rarer than the other:
I feel Del Webb took over soon after these Genie face chips went into play & they didn't have but a year or two of use. I don't recall the dates he took over does anybody have this?
Also tons of the 8th issues were found with all the coin centers. The Bicentennials were even mixed in! CT Rodgers & I used to go through boxes at antique shows to find the 1976 chips mixed in. They were $2 ea. We'd also pick out all the better of these 8th HCE chips. (I picture Charlie & I digging through big boxes like it was yesterday!) For some reason I dont recall any camels being around. The Del Webbs C&J were though.
A ton of Sahara chips were shipped in 55 gallon drums to Tahoe. They never got dumped in the lake. Someone got their hands on them & started selling them. Vegas & Tahoe chips. A guy used to drive a truck around CA. & NV. selling these chips for 20 cents each to antique shops. This was years ago. Maybe Charlie remembers when. I was just starting collecting so must of been mid 80's. Oh the good old days when chips were all less than $3!!!!!
