In case you were not aware, Mark Karoll is an official of the Four Queens (in addition to other responsibilities, he is also in charge of the chip program there and I think the Silver Strike program). When he makes a post (as he did) it is an announcement from the Four Queens.
The same is true for Todd Moyer over at the Trump Marina in Atlantic City, but he is also involved with their slot cards.
And the same thing holds true for Gene Trimble and the Palms, but he encompasses chips, strikes, cards, back-stage passes and Jimbo sightings!
Anyway, those individuals are also collectors (or collector affiliated) and take the opportunity to promote the offerings of their casinos.
But other casinos do not follow suit. In the meantime, depending on jurisdiction, chip, token and strike releases require prior approvals, but usually the approval is an authorize to release, but not a mandate for the release date. Release dates, although often scheduled by the casino, are sometimes changed for unforeseen circumstances (the manufacturer did not deliver them in time) or for other reasons (they did not pass the security camera test).
One of our members (whose name escapes me right now) monthly posts a message about what chips and tokens have been approved by Nevada Gaming, but that is no clear indicator that the approved chips/strikes will in fact be released on-time or at all. (For example, for quite some time now the Ramada Express in Laughlin has had an approval on a set of military services chips and they have had the chips in the cage for over a year now, but there is no release date set. Everytime you ask when they will be released, the answer is' I don't know, probably next (Verterans Day, Armed Forces Day, 4th of July, or whatever military holiday is next in line).
At the present time, it is this BBS that is the best, single source point for release information.
