I'm just visiting this weekend, working a drag race at Scribner. Until I worked this race the first time a couple years ago, I had no idea corn could grow this tall!

First, the reality of Nebraska corn. This is a photo I took in the staging lanes at the Nebraska Motorplex (the drag strip at Scribner). Those are corn stalks behind the car in the photo, the top of the picture doesn't show the top of the corn!

Second, the story of the Nebraska Motorplex at Scribner Nebraska. This facility was built on the site of an old Strategic Air Command Air Force Base. The drag strip itself was part of a runway system used by the USAF for B-52 bombers. ...all stuck in the middle of these huge corn fields!
