I was talking to a newly made friend, who claimed he learned through the Nevada Gaming Commissioner that when the Dunes went down, one person got the entire 800,000 chips that the Dunes used. He is supposedly an older gent now(in his 70's)and still has them. He apparently lives in Las Vegas or area, but wants to retire and move to Florida. My friend was approached by the fellow about selling the entire lot to him,(which is what warranted the call to the Gaming Commissioner to verify if this could be true) but wanted $500,000 for them. Anyone ever heard this story before, and if so, anyone have any idea who the chap is. Makes for an interesting story. Apparently there were some remaining chips that were kept/used??? in another location, but they are sitting at the bottom of the Hoover Dam. If this story is as true as it is supposed to be, I would think this would drastically change the value of the Dunes chips, if the entire supply is so readily available. Apparently these were the last chips to get out before Nevada changed its laws requiring Casinos to destroy their chips upon closure. Sorry for the lengthy post, I just find this stuff highly interesting. Thanks!
