I don't collect Las Vegas chips so really can't say if they, as a class, are depressed. The chips I have been bidding on from Reno and Tahoe seem to be going up - at least it sure seems that way. My rule of thumb used to be to bid about 70-80% of low book and I got quite a few chips that way. Now the darn things seem to frequently go for more than low book and on occasion even exceed the high book. Perhaps it is because I have gotten most of the common stuff and now have to compete for the harder to find chips.
I also think reserve auctions don't work well on chips and other collectibles. I think the chip bidders are really into the last minute "snipe" and the reserve auction sort of gets in the way of that. You got a lot of bids on most of your chips but without any idea of what the real minimum was I think a lot of the last second bidders just pass the auction up. Why not re-list a couple of them with your real minimum as the starting bid and see if if the results are any different? Good luck on your future sales...
