For large quantities of chips you can use the Flat Rate shipping envelope from USPS.. If you can get it in there, it goes for $3.85, regardless of weight. Just put the chips in protective shipping tubes, wrap in bubble wrap, put it all in one of those (FREE at the PO) Tyvek envelopes, then put the whole package in a Priority Flat Rate shipping envelope and be generous with the 3M tape. Last big shipment of chips sent this way was about 180. I ship a bag (5,000) of wheat cents from CA to NY in two 18 pound packages this way every week. My personal record is 34 pounds, 1.6 ounces when I shipped an entire mint sewn bag ($50 face, 5,000 pennies) to Indiana.. I was certainly "pushing the envelope" on that one.. On chip auctions I charge a flat $1 shipping fee for all chips shipped in one package, no matter how many chips are in a given auction or how many chip auctions are won.. sometimes it costs less, sometimes a little more, but it encourages multiple purchases. I always check the shipping charge on auctions I am bidding on and factor it into my bid calculation.
