All different types, so the answer may be vague.
My favorites have pages that hold 12 chips each. I put each chip in a flip and slide it in. About 7 pages is the Max. for a book. It has screw bindings that hold the pages.
Another type has cardboard pages that hold 9 chips or 12 chips per page. The cardboard has cutout holes and clear slides in front and back, so you drop the chip in and slide a clear plastic over the row.
There are other companies that make albums like these. Advantage is that they are nice looking binders, have a flat back, nice size 8 x 9.5 inches. Disadvantage, they are expensive and since they don't hold more than 84 chips, it adds up fast.
You can go to a coin shop and buy standard pages which hold 20 chips each. After five pages, they start getting very heavy. But 100 chips per book, is a nice number. Chips in flips, so they don't fall out it's a standard Marcus or Cowens type page. These fit a standard 3 ring binder.
Much of my collection is stored in plastic or cardboard boxes that the chips originally came in. (not great for display?) lol My favorites and areas that are active, are in binders of some sort.
I bought a large box of about 20 used Dansco albums a few years back, from a dealer.
So that's what they are. High quality, high priced, medium size binders. They fit nice on a bookshelf as well.
You might try local coin shops for used books. The ones that say Gaming Tokens are best and the pages for casino. Morgan and Silver Dollar books won't work.
