When I was living in the beautiful city of Detroit in the early 80's, there was a series of events that took place that was a pretty good example of this type of "legal reverse discrimination."
At one of the larger "black artists" showcases, a white artist (he was a painter, I believe) attempted to get some of his work into the show. He was, of course, rejected. As the story got some press, several white artists attempted to organize a "white artists" showcase. You can imagine what happened.
Although in Detroit black people are the majority and whites the minority, the very idea of upsetting the "law of the land", as it were, in EITHER direction, was looked upon as travesty. Against the law or not, this is just the way things are and the way they will be.
