A few years ago when I was just a chip dabbler - not a real collector - I bought some chips at a flea market in Oroville. There were some George's Gateway $5 chips in there - both types. All the red hub mold chips had the denomination scratched off - as described in Campiglia & Wells' book. Steve P (not going to try to spell that last name) told me he interviewed George Cannon's daughter and was told that George personally ground those denominations off so he could use them in a card room. I was looking at the chips again today and found that about 20 of them are actually Senator Bar Carson City $.50 chips. When I looked those up in the book it really broke my heart that the denominations had been removed - they are R-8 $100-$300. I would be happy to entertain trade offers...these certainly have a lot of history associated with them.
