There are quite a few collectors who sell chips, and there are a number who don't. I haven't sold a chip in a couple years but have given away a few. A lot of people trade chips.
To touch on a few other items in this thread, there are pokers players in our club. I was a prop player in a casino about 10 years ago. Gene Trimble, one of the more prolific posters on this BB is the manager of the poker room at the Palms in Las Vegas.
What else do we collect from casinos? Ashtrays, shot glasses, menus, cards, just about anything with a casino logo on it. ...and some stuff that doesn't have a logo, but wouldn't be found anywhere other than a casino. I have the felt off of a blackjack table, glass from the front of slot machines and (I don't even know what they are called) the strips that have the symbols that are attached to the reels in slot machines.
There is a rather eccentric psychiatrist who lives in Florida who claims to collect ice machines from casino hotel hallways, but I haven't seen one, so I can't verify that.
...and you were right in an earlier post. There's nothing wrong with being unusual!
