Of course not, now you have one. If you find an MGM in the large 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 inch glass style, pay way more, it is worth around $125.00 and then some, rare tray. There are a whole bunch of varieties of the lion, but you have to look close to discern the difference.
Ashtrays are as much fun as the chips, watch Ebay auctions and if you ever have any questions about casino ashtrays, I will do all I can to answer them. If I don't know I will find someone that does. My email is mark@communicomm.com
We are in the process of putting up a massive site showcasing Nevada Casino Ashtrays. Hope to have the Tahoe segment of it up in a month or so, followed by Reno/Sparks, Small Town Nevada, and then Vegas.
We have been soliciting contributions from across the country and the response has been great. I am sure even seasoned collectors will be seeing stuff they have never seen.
We want this to be everyone's site, contribute, you get the credit if you are the first to send it in. We have had lots and lots of chippers contribute. We also plan on having a picture of each place if possible. If anyone has good old pics of places, We can probably use them.
Just like the chips, there are lots of them lurking around in closets, drawers, junk shops. I just got a Tahoe Bowl tray the other day. Probably one of a kind or close to it at the moment. They had slots and 21 in 50-51 at Stateline.
I have even been thinking about posting an ashtray of the day... well, until, I get BURT B'ed. Hopefully that won't happen, Tell me to go away, and I'm out of here!! LOL!!
Anybody that reads this and wishes to contribute. Just send on an Email as a Jpeg image. Lot's of stuff, a CD would be nice, but not necessary. I just got an Email submission with 33 scans attached.
