actually, that is what my out-laws (ex-inlaws) did last year during the big Rodeo-Chetesky fire in Showlow... They had warning and we hauled U-Hauls out of there the day before the formal evacuation. After watching the devastation of these AZ wildfires - I would NEVER wait to start packing until the last minute
