Dick Odessky was a long time journalist with several Vegas papers and PR director at several Vegas casinos in the 50's, 60's & 70's, including the Flamingo and the Stardust.
He was also the author of "Fly on the Wall: Recollections of Las Vegas' Good Old, Bad Old Days." Published by Huntington Press in 1999, this is one of the most insightful books I've read concerning the people and the town during the 50's, 60's and 70's!
The inside of the jacket cover starts out, "Imagine what it must have been like to be in Las Vegas during its most glamorous and eventful years: .....Back then, "the boys" ran the town, dinner shows were a dollar and vacant lots on what is now the Strip sold for $5 an acre. Tallulah played baccarat, Shecky shot dice and Frank dealt blackjack." And it gets better from there!
Benny Binion, Moe Dalitz, Jackie Gaughan, Carl Cohen, Gus Greenbaum, Morris Landsburgh, Sid Wyman, Jake Freidman, Harry Wald, Abe Schiller, etc.....
Sadly, another link to the Vegas of yesterday passes on.
