Tuesday Evening Book Review grin

(I read this one on the flight out to Las Vegas for the convention and back to JFK.)

"The Last Good Time" by Jonathan Van Meter (Skinny D'Amato, the notorious 500 Club, & the rise and fall of Atlantic City).

An excellent history of New Jersey's illegal gambling scene prior to the introduction of the casinos in 1978.

Lots of behind-the-scenes info on Skinny D'Amato, Frank Sinatra, Joe DiMaggio, Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis, John F. Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, Joe Kennedy, Marilyn Monroe, Sam Giancana, Meyer Lansky, Estes Kefauver, et. al.

Includes a complete chapter on Sinatra's stormy days at the Cal-Neva Lodge.

Highly recommended for fans and students of the dark side of the gaming industry.
